Enhanced Mobility of Seniors & Individuals with Disabilities
The Section 5310 Program authorizes capital grants to eligible organizations to assist in providing transportation for the elderly and/or persons with disabilities. The Federal Transit Administration funds 80 percent of all costs for equipment (85 percent if the equipment meets ADA requirements) with 20 and 15 percent match provided by the local recipient. Eligible recipients for this program are private, nonprofit organizations; public bodies approved by the state to coordinate services for elderly persons and persons with disabilities; or public bodies that certify to the Governor that no nonprofit organization is readily available in a service area to provide this transportation service.
