Applications for the Noxious Weed Trust Fund Statewide Taskforce Program opportunity are due by January 6, 2025.
The Statewide Taskforce Programs benefit the entire state and work in several or all counties. These programs include the strike-teams for Early Detection, Rapid Response programs.
Statewide programs can apply for funds up to $225,000 for 3 years, not to exceed $75,000 per year. All awarded funds are reimbursable and can provide wages, supplies, contract work, and 50:50 cost-share for herbicides, commercial applicators, and re-seeding mixtures. Purchasing chemicals through the state bid is highly recommended. All programs should complement and enhance the Montana Weed Management Plan. Applications are due no later than 11:59 PM on January 6, 2025.
The Noxious Weed Trust Fund cannot be used for:
- Capital improvement projects,
- Herbicide cost or application costs for cropland or CRP,
- Purchasing equipment,
- Purchasing biological control agents, and
- Expenses to attend the grant hearings in Helena, MT.
Eligibility Information: Applicants must work with and apply through an organization, such as a weed district, conservation district, extension office, non-profit, or tribal weed district to be eligible. Those interested in applying for this opportunity must have previously been awarded a Noxious Weed Trust Fund grant for the project for a minimum of 1 year and be in good standing.
